We Provide a Full Range of Maryland Wildlife Removal Services

What problems do wildlife cause?

Most of the calls we get are because homeowners hear animals scurrying around inside the attic or walls. Most of the damage inside a houes or attic is unseen. Rodents like squirrels, mice, and rats often chew on electrical wires. Wildlife such as raccoons, bats, birds, opossums, and rats spread several diseases that humans can and do catch, such as Histoplasmosis, Salmonella, Leptospirosis and more. Many critters leave droppings and urine in an attic or cause mold or odor problems. We also handle animals outside the house. It could be a critter that has dug a large hole next to your house, or a raccoon in your garbage cans, an opossum that is stealing pet food, or a skunk living under your deck, causing an odor problem. Some animals destroy your garden or landscaping. Or perhaps you are simply scared of snakes. How To Get Bats Out Of Your House
Bats are flying creatures that have a highly specialized system of navigation which allows them to hunt insects in the air, but occasionally it is possible that a bat will find its way into a domestic property. There are a number of considerations when dealing with a live bat, and the possibility of contracting disease from a bat bite and from the droppings mean that precautions should be taken. It is also worth considering that the bat will often be distressed and confused because it is stuck in your home, and can act aggressively or unpredictably.

What To Do If You Find A Bat On The Floor Or On A Worktop
Bats will very rarely land on a flat surface such as the floor or a worktop unless it really has to, and if you do find a bat on such a surface, it will often be injured or ill, so should be treated with care. If the bat doesn’t immediately take to the air upon your arrival, then you should wear a pair of thick gloves and protective clothing before trying to catch the animal. Try to avoid handling the animal directly, as they are tiny fragile creatures and can be damaged by any squeezing or crushing very easily. You should use a large container such as a Tupperware box or a bucket to place over the bat, preferably one that is clear so that you can see the bat underneath. This should be done carefully, and it is possible the bat will take to the air and try to fly away, even if it is injured or ill. Once this has been placed over the bat, slide the container over a piece of card or thick paper, and then gently turn it over being as careful as possible to look after the bat. This should then be sealed with a few air holes that are small enough to ensure the bat can’t escape. You should then take the bat to the veterinarian for a full examination.

What If You Find A Bat Flying Around A Room?
This is often the more common situation in which people will find a bat in their home, and as long as the bat is healthy then the main priority will be getting the bat out and allowing it to fly away. The bat is likely to be disorientated and flying around erratically when you find it. The best situation will be if it has been caught in a room with a window or door opening directly into the open air. If this is the case, then opening that window or door and leaving the room for a short while will usually be enough to allow the bat to escape. Catching a flying bat is almost impossible for most people, and as they aren’t particularly attracted to any bait, the only real solution is to open a route for the bats to get out of the home. Try and open the quickest and most direct route to the outside for the bat to take, and if it can feel the breeze or cooler air then it may try to follow that trail out of the home. If the bat doesn’t take the opportunity to escape, after some minutes or hours it will often become tired and may even injure itself, and in this situation you should catch the bat as above, and release it in the evening if it is uninjured. A bat in the house is an indication of a colony in the attic. Call us for Baltimore bat removal services from attics and buildings.

Cleaning Up After Having A Bat In Your Home
The most important thing to do once you have removed a bat from your home is to ensure the room is clean, and disinfecting and removing any bat droppings is particularly important. This should be cleaned with a disinfecting product, and you should avoid any direct contact with the droppings themselves.
